- Awarding continuing education units (CEUs) to all educational activities in India like participating in national or regional conferences, paper presentations or publications etc.
Requisite Criteria for certification
- Diploma in Perfusion Technology given by Indian Association of Cardio-vascular and Thoracic Surgeons or Diploma given by any other Perfusion School. (or)Degree in Perfusion given by any recognized college/university.
- All practicing Perfusionist with10 years
- Having done 50 pumps a year minimum
To honour senior perfusionists with the above criteria , an informal examination has to be taken by them for their board certification. This will be conducted only in first two years.
Those who do not fulfill the above criteria would have to take their exam to be conducted by BCP-I every year for that they must fulfill criteria as follows:
- Degree/Master Degree in Perfusion from a recognized University.
- B Sc with Biology or chemistry as subject from a recognized University, with Diploma/Certificate in perfusion from a recognized post graduate medical institution/ competent body/organization such as IACTS.
- Having done 50 pumps a year minimum. (Beating heart cases will be considered.)
- BCP-I will conduct annual exam for certification It will consist of multiple-choice questions covering basic and applied sciences. The Board will certify those who pass for a period of 5 years with annual review. Every year the certified perfusionists will have to submit to the Board the number of cases done by them and the CME activities attended. All CME and conferences, publication of papers and presentation of papers in conferences will be given points CEUs and each Perfusionist must accumulate required points for annual review and for recertification at the end of five years. BCP-I will conduct a recertification exam for the same every year. This will consist of multiple choice questions relating to applied perfusion topics.
